Josefowicz’s Tchaikovsky Concerto

Josefowicz enthralled Houston Symphony audiences last season and performed one of the most
exciting violin concertos ever written, the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.
One of Russia’s foremost conductors, Alexander Lazarev lead a glorious program of all-Russian music, framed by Tchaikovsky’s breathtakingly romantic Romeo and Juliet Overture and Prokofiev’s Third Symphony, a perfect blend of rhythmic vitality and gentle lyricism that grips you from its very beginning notes.
Prelude, sponsored by UBS, began 50 minutes prior to each performance. Arts lecturer Ira J. Black discussed Shakespearian influences on classical music.
